About Me

My photo
The name is Sarah E. Walsh, I use my work of art as a way to express God's blessings to this world. And God has been my biggest inspiration. Life has brought many things, and throughout all that I have been through I have realized one thing; art has always been my passion and God has never failed to amaze and guide me. I hope that when others see my art their minds are open to see the beauty of this world. One of my favorite things in life it to experience a calm inspiring setting, where I can feel peace, serenity, joy, and happiness. Whether I am driving in my car, with the wind in my hair, or walking along a calm lake where you can hear the stillness of life, I use my camera to capture those pictorial settings. These experiences often spark an inspiration to create art. My interest with different mediums and art styles is constantly expanding. If we slow down, stop, and thoroughly examine all the natural beauty that is around us, we can experience a little more spice to life, hence my blog titled 'Salt to the Earth'.

Poster Design Successes and Failures?

The movie poster for Vancancy captured my attention right away. I am not sure if the picture was taken and then edited, or fully designed via computer design ect. Whichever medium/media that was used, it it amazing. It is very well designed for the name and genre of the movie. The poster shows a neon light motel sign reading no vancancy with only the word ‘vancany’ lit up. The setting consists of a dark cloudy sky and a rundown look. The movie also takes place in an isolated hotel. This in my oppinion works because it gives the viewer an eary feel while the words ‘vacancy’ seems to pop out; portraying the title, setting, and the theme of the movie.

On the other side of posted designs- lacking attention capturing features or decent design was the poster for the movie Zodiac. For some reason I really didn’t like the poster for this movie. It lacks something… I just don’t know what. It's not that creative in my eyes, maybe that is what it is lacking- creativity. The font is blah, and I don’t think that the font of the title matches the main image of the San Fransisco bridge. The font is also too bright in my opinion. It would look better if it were more neutral with the picture rather than having drastic contrast of the dark image with a near white title.

And that is my movie poster critique of the day.

Fairwell and enjoy life. :)
